Companies House – Changes to Fees
This is an official notification from Companies House, sent to all registered email addresses. The information in this email is relevant to all companies registered in the UK. Companies House is introducing a series of changes under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency (ECCT) Act 2023. Here’s a round-up to start the new year to make sure you’re up to date.
Changes to fees from 1 February 2026
From 1 February 2026, some of our fees will be changing. We’ve published a full list of fees that are changing from 1 February 2026.
We use income from our fees to incorporate companies and to publish accessible company information worth billions to the UK economy. Our new and enhanced powers under the ECCT Act also enable us to query and remove false and misleading information from our registers.
We’re building a more trustworthy environment for consumers and legitimate businesses, and reducing the harm they face from those who do not meet their obligations.
Identity verification
UK company law now requires all company directors and people with significant control (PSCs) to verify their identity. Identity verification helps protect honest business owners from being impersonated by criminals and supports a fairer, more transparent business environment. It’s a quick, secure process that most people complete in minutes. If you’ve already verified your identity, you do not need to do it again. However, if you’re both a director and a PSC for one or more companies, you need to link your verified identity to each role you hold.
Registered email address
Since 4 March 2024, every company must give Companies House a registered email address. We’re sending regular emails to registered email addresses to help you comply with your responsibilities. It’s important to make sure you’ve chosen the most appropriate registered email address for your company. As the company director, you must be able to access and read the emails you receive from Companies House. You can update your registered email address online.
