Through companies house, you can immediately find out if your proposed business name is already taken or being used elsewhere. The company name search facility is free, quick and easy to use.

Be sure to check this before registering, as no two companies can utilise the same name. If your name is too similar to another company’s name or trademark you may have to change it if someone makes a complaint.
